SARAH EDWARDS

Serendipitous stitcher

I have been enjoying working from instinct more than design led pieces, letting them evolve and develop without any constraints on techniques

or the finished size. For me there is so much pleasure in creating tangible feelings or images

in textiles, sometimes just a scrappy sketch or

the image in my head is enough, in some instances the fabric almost dictates what to do next.

There is also the joy in “playing” – trying new techniques and revisiting old ones, without a

final purpose in mind but just for the fun.   Sometimes a serendipity moment comes from this and the result is just what I didn’t know I needed, other times it has to wait, but always taking my learning curve upwards – even a “bad” result is a “good” lesson learned.

For me, there is nothing more bright and

beautiful than a full moon.
